Bijapur: A reward carrying naxal surrendered before DIG Kamlochan Kashyap, SP Anjaneya Varshney and CRPF said Bijapur police officials on Saturday.
The surrendered naxal carried a reward of Rs 10 lakh the official added. The naxal is identified as Lalu Modiyami, a member of the Jharkhand Regional Committee who is reported to have been involved in 12 big incidents.
Lalu, a resident of Pedda Korma in Bijapur district, was admitted to the Gangalur Area Committee in 2009 as a PLGA member, after which he was promoted in 2010. In April 2015, the organization gave him the responsibility of conducting activities in the Bihar-Jharkhand cadre. Following which he was appointed as a member of the Jharkhand Regional Committee.
In 2021, Lalu was involved in Bihar-Jharkhand including areas of Chhattisgarh. The naxal has cited discriminatory policy in the organization as his reason to quit and join the society.
The surrendered naxal will be given benefits under the rehabilitation policy, police officials said.
