Bilaspur: People across Bilaspur suffer amid the deadlock between revenue officials and the state government over the illicit assault of a tehsildar in Raigad two days ago.

Tehsildars and subordinate employees of the Junior Administrative Service Association in Bilaspur and Raipur all actively participated in the indefinite strike today. The protest demanded immediate action against the lawyers who physical assaulted Naib Nazir on Friday and security for them. A sit-in protest was held at Budha-Talab at 2pm. It is also reported that a press conference has been organized in the evening.

Tension prevailed between the administrative incharges and the revenue officials after the incident. The act by the lawyers was condemned in an emergency meeting, under the chairmanship of Chhattisgarh State Administrative Service Association president Ashutosh Pandey. Later in the evening, the Deputy Collector, Joint Collector and Additional Collector submitted a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police demanding the arrest of the accused lawyers at the earliest.

Search for the absconding lawyers is on, police said. So far no appropriate reasons for the assault have surfaced it added.
