Raipur: As the Election Commission of India announced the election dates for Chhattisgarh, it also declared that the last date for filing nominations for the first phase of polls in the state is October 20. Candidates can withdraw their nominations by October 23. Meanwhile, for the second phase of assembly polls in the state, the last date for filing nominations is October 30 and the candidates can withdraw their nominations by November 2.

The date of poll for the first phase is 7th November and for the second phase polling is 17th November, the date for counting of both phases shall be held on 3 December 2023.

Out of the total 80 constituencies listed for assembly election, 29 are Scheduled Tribe dominated. These include Pratappur, Ramanuganj, Dharamjaigarh, Rampur, Bindranawagarh, Kondagaon, Chitrakot, Dantewada, Konta, Bijapur, Kanker, Keshkal, and Narayanpur. 10 constituencies are dominated by Scheduled Caste; Sarangarh, Mungeli, Masturi, Pamgarh, Saraipali, Bilaigarh, Arang, Dongargarh, Ahiwara, and Nawagarh.

“As we stand on the cusp of the elections, it is to be noted that these elections hold a crucial role in India”, said Sh. Rajiv Kumar at a press conference held by Election Commission of India (ECI) today. ECI has visited all these states to discuss the matter with DRI, Navy, Air Force, Narcotics, and representatives of political parties to prepare for the elections, added Sh. Rajiv Kumar.

While announcing the election dates, Sh. Rajiv Kumar said that the election will be held in 679 assembly constituencies, which constitute one-sixth of total constituencies in India and hold 16.14 crore electors.
