Raipur: Rescue operations for flood hit areas in CG ia under full swing after water levels in Godavari rose above danger levels. State Minister of Commerce and Industries, Kawasi Lakhma on the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel embarked on his tour to take stock of flood hit areas of the state.
He first visited Sukma at 1 pm and later arrived at Tarlaguda at 1.30pm following which he will return to Raipur.
The IMD on Friday issued a warning for 8 districts in Chattisgarh. Raigarh, Korba, Kabir Dham, Bastar, Dantevada, Narayanpur, Sukma and Bijapur were issued a red alert. Raigarh, so far has recorded highest level of rainfall in Chhattisgarh at 120 mm.
As per the advisory urges locals to “be prepared” for the heavy rains, strong surface winds and other extreme conditions. People have also been advised to be watchful of the weather situation and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
