Raipur: Former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh will file a nomination for the post of Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Assembly today. During this time, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao, and Vijay Sharma will be present with him. Raman Singh will nominate Assembly Secretary Dinesh Sharma for the post of Speaker.
After the formation of the new BJP government in Chhattisgarh, the assembly session will begin soon. This winter session will be held on 19, 20 and 21 December. After taking the oath, the Protem Speaker will administer the oath to all the MLAs. A supplementary budget can also be brought in the session.
With the BJP holding a comfortable majority, their focus will likely be on showcasing their plans for the state. Public expectations are high, particularly after their campaign promises on issues like farmers’ welfare, rural development, and job creation. The government might choose to present a supplementary budget in this session, outlining its immediate financial priorities and signaling their economic direction.
However, the opposition Congress wouldn’t be sitting idly by. They will be keen to hold the BJP accountable for their pre-election pledges and raise concerns about any potential policy shifts. Debates on key issues like the contentious Polavaram irrigation project, the state’s industrial policy, and the law and order situation are likely to spark heated exchanges.
The session also provides an opportunity for the newly elected MLAs, especially the first-timers, to find their footing on the legislative floor. Their maiden speeches and participation in debates will be closely watched, offering a glimpse into the future political landscape of the state.
