Chhattisgarh: Raipur has run out of stock for the COVID-19 vaccine, a source revealed. The vaccination centers are awaiting their supply of vaccine doses. Out of the total 300 vaccination centers, today only 13 vaccination centers would actively vaccinate beneficiaries of Raipur.

180 vaccination centers in Raipur have been closed due to the vaccine shortage. 10,000 doses have been allotted to Raipur, which shall reach the district in the next few hours, informed District immunization officer Dr Ashish. 2000 Covishield vaccine doses and 640 COVAXIN doses each will be provided to 13 vaccination centers.

Today, the Chhattisgarh High Court questioned the state government regarding the continuous shortage of COVID vaccines. With this, the High Court has instructed the state administration to upgrade its vaccination facilities and take stock of the situation. The High Court further ordered the government to submit an affidavit encompassing the vaccine availability and its further preparation.

As per sources, High Court counsel Shailendra Dubey had filed a PIL in Chhattisgarh High Court seeking permission to launch global tenders to overcome the shortage of vaccines. In his petition he stated that several Indian states had flagged an acute shortage in COVID-19 vaccine supply and floated global tenders to overcome the shortage. However, the High Court scheduled the next hearing on August 5, 2021.
