Raipur: Over time, the past government’s alleged irregularities are surfacing, prompting the new government to take action after an investigation. This pertains to the 2031 Master Plan in the capital city, Raipur. The previous government had dismissed all the controversies surrounding this Master Plan. However, taking into account the complaints from social and business organizations following the change in government, Housing and Environment Minister OP Choudhary has ordered a thorough investigation.

Fandev Bhushan Verma, representing the Bhajyumo organization, filed a complaint with Minister Choudhary regarding the 2031 Master Plan in Raipur. Before the approval of the Master Plan, more than a thousand objections were raised, but none were addressed. When the matter reached the new Housing and Environment Minister OP Choudhary of the BJP government, he has assured a reexamination of all the objections.

The allegations include the exclusion of densely populated areas such as Atari, Bhatgaon, Boriyakala, Chandanideeh, Charouda, Dondekhala, Giroud, Kathadih, Mandhar, Mohadi, Nimora, Silatara, and Urla from the Master Plan. It is claimed that these areas have significant ongoing or planned projects by several prominent builders in Raipur, as evidenced by released advertisements.

The complaint suggests that the omission of these areas from the Master Plan would create difficulties for any new construction. The land in these areas was allegedly deliberately excluded from the Master Plan to benefit certain prominent builders. Moreover, it is claimed that the Master Plan categorized the land in Sirona as agricultural initially, later diverting it for residential use, leading to objections that were allegedly dismissed by responsible officers.

The new government aims to create a New Tri-City plan, incorporating significant portions of Raipur, Naya Raipur, and Bhilai-Durg. However, none of these elements have been included in the Master Plan initially, posing a challenge for the government to implement this plan. Despite objections registered during the Master Plan’s formulation, there have been no changes made to the new Master Plan’s maps, further fueling public discontent.
