Raipur: Remdesivir Injection Shortage Stirs the State; Electric Crematoria To be Established

Raipur: The mutant strain surge has wreaked havoc in Chhattisgarh. The state health bulletin registered more than 10, 000 cases in the last 24 hours. According to ICMR reports, nearly 40,000 individuals were tested out of which 10,521 confirmed the strain. With this the active count escalated to 90,277.  Subsequently around 122 deaths were reported due to the surge. 

The surge has led to shortage of oxygen and Remdesivir injections in the state hospitals. Under the direction of the CM, two IAS officers have been deployed to convene with Remdesivir injection manufacturers in Mumbai and Hyderabad to meet the adequate supply in the state.

On the contrary, the state has put forth its efforts to combat oxygen shortage by establishing medical oxygen plants in government hospitals. This will account for 80% of the oxygen generated in the state. The state has mandated a COVID negative report for RT-PCR test performed 72 hours ago for railway passengers arriving in the state. 

Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya University of Health and Sciences and AYUSH have postponed the nursing examinations.

It is also reported that the government has declared constructions of new crematoria in urban areas.  Electric crematoria will be set up at Raipur, Durg, Bhilai, Bilaspur and Risali.
