Raipur: The mortality in Chhattisgarh has seen a significant rise in the past 24 hours. The state reported around 13, 576 new infections and 132 deaths. On average 96 deaths are reported from the state on a daily basis. Due to the rising counts, the state administration has decided to impose a lockdown in the Gorella-Pendra-Marwahi district. The district will be under a complete lockdown from April 14 beginning at 6 am to 6 am on April 22. The guidelines of the lockdown will soon be issued. 

Amidst the surge, a strike emerged from the Junior Doctors at the Ambedkar hospital in Raipur. A day earlier, the Junior Doctors representative submitted a letter to the CMO of the hospital. Since Tuesday morning these doctors have denied providing services in the OPD of the largest government hospital. 

The doctors complained about the cheap quality PPE provided to them to treat patients with the most contagious infection. They demanded good quality PPE Kits for doctors as well as the staff in the premises.

The doctors also complained of work overload and no incentives for extra duty. They have demanded Covid Duty Stai Fund for their services. 

The doctors are adamant on demand for risk allowance and have issued an ultimatum till April 18. Following which the doctors who claim to cease their duties at the emergency services and COVID Wards.
