Raipur: The Indian Railways has come up with an additional special train between Durg and Patna in a major relief to the devotees as they travel to Baba Dham during the holy month of Shravan. Through this new service, the service provider hopes to accommodate the growing number of pilgrims destined to the popular Baba Baidyanath Dham in Jharkhand, and more so to deal with the peak traffic time in the festival of the Shravan Mela.

Earlier, a special train was notified between Durg and Patna on July 6, 13, 20, and 27. A second special train (of another number) on July 7, 14, 21, and 28 is now also being run on the same days, starting at Durg, owing to special demand. The outbound trips to Patna will be on July 8, 15, 22, and 29. There is also an earlier scheduled train, which will start on July 7, 14, 21, and 28, traveling out of Patna; hence, there is a guarantee that two trains will be operating between the two cities on the same days.

Indian Railways has also booked 1008 reserved seats on every head, so that pilgrims can now enjoy their journey without involving themselves in the ticket war. The new train will operate on Durg as train number 08797 on every Monday and back with a train number 08798 on every Tuesday under Patna.

These trains will have a rake composition of two AC Three-Tier coaches, 13 coaches of Sleeper Class, four coaches of General Class, and two coaches of LRD (Luggage-cum-Guard) with a total of 21 coaches. The growth is in the context of the Indian Railways program to make travelling by religious pilgrims smooth and avoid the rush in the peak seasons.

This prompt move of Indian Railways should not only help in a big way in the expediency of the thousands of passengers travelling to Baba Dham, which is one among the most significant pilgrimage hubs in the month of Shravan.
