Durg. A tragic accident occurred Sunday morning at Durg Railway Station, part of the Raipur Division of South East Central Railway. A railway employee (technician) was struck by a freight train while on duty near platform number 6, resulting in his death on the spot.
According to information received from railway officials, the deceased has been identified as Ajay Kumar, a Technician Grade-1 (Train Lighting Staff) with the Railways. Ajay Kumar was on duty on Sunday morning during the 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM shift. The incident occurred around 9:00 AM when an empty freight train (N/BOX EMPTY) was passing near kilometer number 865/27 (Raipur End). Ajay Kumar was struck by it.
Upon receiving information from the station master, Durg, Railway Protection Force (RPF) staff immediately arrived at the scene. With the help of GRP Durg personnel and local staff, the body was removed from the tracks and sent to the mortuary at around 9:50 am. The railway administration and GRP are investigating the circumstances of the accident. According to colleagues, Ajay Kumar was a diligent employee.
