Kanker: Rahul Gandhi visited Chhattisgarh and addressed a large public gathering in Bhanupratappur, Kanker, where he severely criticized the central government. He asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi why he was avoiding talking about and carrying out an OBC caste-based census.

Bhupesh Baghel, the chief minister of Chhattisgarh, shared a video of the sizable public gathering and wrote, “LIVE: Huge public meeting of Jananayak Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji, Farasgaon.”

Gandhi expressed his worry, saying, “Why are you (PM Modi) afraid of an OBC caste-based census? Why don’t you talk about it in your speeches? And why don’t you release the data that we compiled during our administration? Because you are aware that the OBC community in India today does not have the level of participation it ought to. Because you want to keep this truth hidden from the OBC youth.” His remarks made clear the perception that OBC communities in India are underrepresented and that their information is not being made public.

On October 30th, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel intends to file his nomination from the Patan constituency in the Durg district. For this event, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the general secretary of the Congress, will also travel to Chhattisgarh.

Gandhi’s visit to the state is part of the election campaign as Chhattisgarh prepares for assembly elections.

The Congress party is actively preparing for these elections, and key party leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are actively involved in campaigning.

The Congress President, visited Chhattisgarh twice in a month earlier, in September 2023. He was warmly welcomed by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel at the airport upon his arrival in Raipur. Rahul then set out on a drive to Bilaspur after speaking with local leaders at the Mayfair Resort. A number of prominent leaders are accompanying him on this excursion.
