BKU leader RakeshTikait is scheduled to visit Nava Raipur on April 27th. During his visit, the farmers announced to set up a base outside the Agriculture Ministry and hold a mega rally.

Notably, farmers of 27 villages in Raipur district’s Nava Raipur Atal Nagar have been agitating under the banner of Nayi Rajdhani Priyojna Prabhavit Kisan Kalyan Samiti (NRPPKKS) since January to seek better rehabilitation and compensation. The farmers claim, These farmers claim they were promised adequate compensation and jobs in exchange for their lands. Civic groups like the Chhattisgarh Bachao Andolan have also given their support to the farmer protests. 

The protest gained national traction when a 68-year-old farmer participating in the foot march on 11th March died. following this a raged farmers accused the security forces deployed who barricaded the Naya Raipur Development Authority office.
