Bijapur: The incident in Mutavendi has sparked anger among villagers in Ganganloor-Bijapur region. Attempts to hold a rally led by local leaders were thwarted by the administration. The villagers, representing the Moolvasi Manch, had planned to submit an application to the collector seeking justice for Mangli’s parents. However, the administration denied permission. In Ganganloor village, hundreds of villagers gathered to meet the collector, accompanied by Mangli’s mother and father. The road connecting Ganganloor village was heavily guarded by police, CRPF personnel, and revenue department officials, creating barricades on both ends to prevent villagers from reaching Bijapur.
The villagers, united in their six-point demands, intended to meet the collector within five days for a complete investigation into the incident. Besides, they opposed the establishment of a camp in Mutavendi without the presence of villagers and demanded the removal of the camp in Kavadgaon. The demands also included the immediate filing of an FIR based on Mangli’s mother’s written complaint in Ganganloor police station, the removal of the camp in Kavadgaon, and the constitution of a joint team of villagers, along with public representatives, for the thorough investigation of the incident, besides filing an immediate FIR under relevant sections based on Mangli’s mother’s written complaint.
