Raipur: On October 25, all private schools in Chhattisgarh will be closed. The Private School Association has stated that a strike and picketing will take place at the state level on Monday. The members of the school association would express their dissatisfaction with the government by gathering at the dharna site of Budhapara in Raipur. More than 7,000 schools in the state would remain closed as a result of the association’s decision, affecting the education of about 16 lakh children.
School Association President Rajiv Gupta said, “The government is constantly ignoring our demands. At many levels, the people of the school put their problems in front of the government, but none of us were listened to. Now the organization of the state has taken this decision. On October 25, all schools will be locked. Teaching staff, non-teaching staff will all be on strike.”
Notably, the money obtained by private schools under RTE, or Right to Education, is the primary cause of this strike. Approximately Rs 106 crore has been owed to all schools for several months by the state government, which has yet to be paid.
