Chhattisgarh: Following trends of certain BJP lead states, members of BJP in CG are demanding tax-exemption for the film ‘The Kashmir Files’. BJP State President Vishnu Deo Sai today took to his Twitter handle hitting CM Bhupesh Baghel. “What forces are stopping @bhupeshbaghel Ji from making the film #TheKashmirFiles narrating the tales of oppression with Kashmir Hindus, tax-free like other states. If there was a film glorifying Jihad, Bhupesh Ji might have been interested. – the tweet read.”

Earlier on Monday, several BJP leaders accused Congress of threatening multiplex owners from selling tickets of the film. A video on a similar issue has been making rounds on social media. BJP MLA Brijhmohan Agarwal in the video alleged that the Congress-led government in Chhattisgarh doesn’t want people to watch ‘The Kashmir Files’ movie in large numbers and pressuring cinema halls to not sell all tickets to restrict footfall. The movie is currently being screened at three cinema halls only.

Another video of BJP MLA, Amarjeet Chabra has also been making rounds where he also levels the same accusations against the Baghel govt.

The state govt in 2019 had exempted Deepika Padukone starrer Chapaak – a movie that features the plight of women who faced acid attacks.

The Kashmir Files- depicts the struggles faced by  Kashmir Hindus due to the atrocities of Pakistani terrorists. States like Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, UP and Uttarakhand have decided to make the movie tax free in the state.
