BIJAPUR: A 40-year-old assistant constable suffered injuries while he was defusing an IED that went off in CGs Naxal dominated Bijapur. This is the second incident that took place this week and 3 in the last 22 days.
As per reports, the incident took place when Sitaram Kaudiaym was defusing the bomb planted in the village Bangapal under Nelasnar police station limits. A police team had left their camp for conducting area domination and search operations 3 km east of the village. During this, a team member spotted the bomb planted. “During patrolling, the team detected an IED, suspected to have been planted by Maoists, three kilometers ahead of Bangapal, said an official.”
After giving preliminary treatment at a local hospital, the constable was sent to Dantewada district hospital for further treatment said SP Anjanneya Varshneya adding that preparations were underway to send him to Raipur for further treatment.
Earlier on Monday, a DRG Jawan Shankar Paret was injured while destroying an IED planted by Naxals in the Bade Tungali of Jangla police station.
