Mahasamund: Once again, the district police have achieved a significant success, arresting an individual engaged in luxury car trafficking carrying crores worth of gold. The incident unfolded in the Singhoda police station area. The police received information from an informant that individuals were transporting a large quantity of gold from Odisha. In response, the Cyber Cell and Singhoda police’s internal check post near Rehtekhol conducted vehicle searches.
During this operation, a luxury car with registration number MH 26 AK 4501, speeding towards Mahasamund from Odisha, was intercepted. Upon questioning the driver, who claimed to be traveling from Khadakpur, West Bengal, to Nanded, Maharashtra, evasive responses were given.
Suspicious of the driver’s answers, the vehicle was thoroughly searched. Inside a compartment, three packets were discovered. Upon further inspection, the packets contained gold biscuits, with one packet containing 11 nuggets, another with a larger gold bar, and the third with a smaller gold bar. The total weight of the seized gold was 3 kilograms and 126 grams, with an estimated value of ₹2,00,06,400. Subsequently, the police confiscated both the gold and the vehicle and registered a case against the individual, initiating further legal action.
This successful operation highlights the vigilance and efficiency of the police force in responding to information and preventing illegal activities, particularly in the domain of smuggling high-value commodities like gold.
