Gariaband: In Chattisgarh, the police conducted a relentless struggle against the Naxals, cruising them off the charts. Today, the discovery of three IEDs in the Gariba forest during the search operation has created a sense of victory for police officers in the Gariaband district. However, another police superintendent, Naxal Dhirendra Yadav, confirmed the above fact. The police were said to be on alert over the chances of Naxalites’ operations in the inter-state border area connecting Thana Shobha, which was marked as a high-risk area. Citing such intel, the police parties were going for frequent searches in the jungle areas of Kodomali, Ichraadi, Gariba, and Sahabinakchar, respectively.
In the rear of one such excursion into Gariba jungle, the police rounded them up, and the Naxals had to scuttle and abandon the place. The search resulted in the discovery of three improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which were of a total weight of four kilograms each. Two underground buried pressure cookers plus one tiffin bomb were discovered in their camping area. Eventually, the police bomb squad unit was responsible for their destruction.
The confiscation of all these explosives is a serious obstruction for the Naxals as they cannot execute any of their planned attacks, thus making the area safe from any danger. The policing activity that was undertaken and the successful operations showed their mentality to restore and even strengthen the peace and security of the state. Not only so, but it also reaffirms the need for immediate intelligence and quick strategic actions in pushing back insurgency and keeping civilians and security personnel in naxal affected region use.
