Chhattisgarh police have arrested a Nigerian man, aged 35 years from Delhi, and brought him to the state capital of Chhattisgarh, as the man has been accused of defrauding a woman from the state. The woman has been conned of Rs. 5 lakhs by the man after the latter introduced himself as a doctor through a fake profile on Facebook. 

As per the statement given by Raipur Senior SP Ajay Kumar Yadav to the media persons, the accused man, namely Ignatius Chukwujekwu Naruka, lives in Delhi, who, during the investigation, has acknowledged that he had previously cheated multiple women across the states and UTs in India. 

The woman in Chhattisgarh filed an FIR at the New Rajendra Nagar Police Station in Raipur in December 2020. In her complaint, she revealed that she had become friends with the Nigerian man on the social media forum. The accused told her that he is a doctor and started talking to the woman via mobile calls and WhatsApp chats. Later, the accused told the victim that he has sent a parcel of gifts to her. The delivery person forcibly took Rs. 5 lakhs from the woman in the name of foreign exchanges and airport immittances along with other custom charges. She asserted that she transferred the money into different account numbers of the accused man. Later, the victim found herself to be conned when she found the mobile number of the accused switched off.

The Chhattisgarh police succeeded in tracing the location of the man through a technical analysis of the messages, Facebook IDs, WhatsApp chats, and bank account numbers, and booked him at Dwarka in Delhi. Police seized 4 mobile phones, a laptop, an ATM card, a driving license, a PAN Card, a Passport, and a pen drive from the spot.
