Raipur: In the Kanker district of Chhattisgarh, a number of custard apple pulp processing machines have been set up in several villages, which are helping the women there to earn and become self-dependent. Prime Minister’s NITI Aayog has praised the performance of Chhattisgarh’s self-help groups once again.
NITI Aayog, from their official Twitter handle, has tweeted about the working women of the district of Kanker, calling the steps ‘aspirational’, along with the tagline “Badhte Kadam Atmanirbharta Ke Ore” (Forwarding steps towards self-dependence).
In the Tweet, the NITI Aayog mentioned about the women from the ‘aspirational district’ Kanker, and that a number of custard apple pulp processing machines have been set up in different villages around the district, using which the women in the villages have been preserving apple pulp in a cold place, and selling the pulp in the market at commendable prices.
“Custard apple pulp processing machines have been installed in different villages of #AspirationalDistrict Kanker, which are run by women Self Help Groups. The custard apple pulp is kept frozen & sold in the market at attractive prices” – the Tweet read.
Earlier, in July 2020, Janak Dulari Pandey from Banskot Village in the Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh started a women self-help group. Pandey’s group played a vital role in purchasing minor forest produce such as tamarind and sal seeds from the tribal communities in the state.
