Raipur: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a fateful session of the NITI Aayog expected to occur in Delhi on 27th July. Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai will also grace the occasion and may participate to some extent during the meeting as he is scheduled to leave for New Delhi in the evening.

The NITI Aayog was set up in the year 2015 and works as the government’s green paper or, to put it another way, is the Indian government’s main policy advisory body. Among its key goals, it is aimed at popularizing cooperation between different levels of the federal structure, advancing development, and adopting measures that stabilize the growth of the country throughout the regions. The Aayog collaborates with the states in the development and execution of all sorts of developmental projects and policies.

This is due for discussion at the next meeting of both LD and DD and the supposed discussion points are going to be of the nature that offer state-federal relationship developmental concerns and ways of improving the relation a priority. This is in line with the functions of NITI Aayog, which is to coordinate for faster economic development and foster balanced development of the nation.

India, before the creation of the NITI Aayog, was functioning under the Planning Commission, which was set up in 1950. Originally known as the Planning Commission, it was responsible for devising and executing Five-Year Plans for the nation’s developmental course. It was very much involved in the integration of several policies as well as projects relating to the economy before it was abolished in 2014 to be replaced with NITI Aayog.

From the Planning Commission to NITI Aayog, the change was positive; it is flexible and more creative now for policymaking, and it is in sync with an emerging India.

To summarize, the role of NITI Aayog is to encourage the spirit of cooperative and cumulative sharing in the making and implementation of policies, keeping in view the objectives of the states and the nation at large. The blocking and tackling for future growth agendas for India will be set during the upcoming meeting under the leadership of PM Modi.
