Raipur- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Chhattisgarh on September 14, 2023, to inaugurate approximately Rs 6,350 crore railway sector projects. The inauguration ceremony will take place in Raigad during an event. These projects include constructing a railway line between Champa and Jamga, another railway line between Pendra Road and Anuppur, and various other initiatives. These railway projects are expected to impact the region by improving passenger and freight movement, thus promoting socio-development.

One of the endeavors is constructing a 98-kilometer third railway line that will connect Champa and Jamga. This project has been implemented at an estimated cost of Rs 796 crore. The new rail link aims to enhance connectivity in the area while also boosting tourism and employment opportunities. It will also provide access to markets for Kosa silk artisans from Champa, known as the city of Kosa, Kansa, and Kanchan. Additionally, this rail line will significantly expedite produce transportation to markets.

The second project involves building a rail line spanning 50 kilometers between Pendra Road and Anuppur at approximately Rs 516 crore. This initiative aims to improve the railway connectivity between the established district of Pendra Gaurela Marwahi in Chhattisgarh and Anuppur in Madhya Pradesh. This will facilitate transportation for the communities residing primarily in areas of the region. It is anticipated to facilitate the movement of agricultural goods, including horticultural produce and food items, while also serving as a vital transport route for coal. Furthermore, this rail link forms a crucial route from Chhattisgarh to northern and western India via Katni, benefiting the region’s religious and natural tourist attractions.
