Raipur: After meeting with the Governor, PCC Chief Deepak Baij stated that discussions centered around the recent alleged staged encounter in Koilibeda, Chhattisgarh, where three villagers lost their lives. Despite being identified as MGNREGA laborers with valid IDs, they were portrayed as Naxals. The Congress investigation team revealed the encounter as staged, prompting a complaint to the Governor. Seeking a fair probe, Baij demanded a judicial inquiry from the High Court.

Expressing concern, Baij emphasized the victims’ genuine identities, pointing out their Aadhar and ration cards. He highlighted the incongruity of branding MGNREGA laborers as Naxals, emphasizing the need to debunk the fabricated encounter.

Baij also addressed the delay in the Mahatari Vandana Yojana’s implementation, alleging BJP’s failure to fulfill promises. He accused the BJP of backtracking on its commitment to provide benefits to every married woman in Chhattisgarh, irrespective of their family background. Baij criticized the government for restricting benefits to APL, BPL, jobholders, and taxpayers, neglecting a broader demographic. He alleged that the BJP’s reluctance to extend benefits to more people stems from fear of rising public discontent ahead of elections.

Baij asserted that the BJP and Modi’s assurances have proven unsuccessful, leading to the party’s evident fear and hesitation in setting dates for the Mahatari Vandana Yojana. He argued that the BJP’s tactics of delaying announcements are a response to their comprehensive failure, causing them to tread cautiously in the face of mounting public dissatisfaction.

In summary, PCC Chief Deepak Baij’s interactions with the Governor encompassed concerns over the Koilibeda encounter, the demand for a fair judicial inquiry, and criticism of the BJP’s failure to fulfill promises, especially in the implementation of the Mahatari Vandana Yojana. The extended delay in announcing scheme dates is viewed as a strategic move to mitigate public dissatisfaction ahead of upcoming elections.
