Raipur: The GST department under the leadership of Minister OP Choudhary has initiated a strong crackdown against those involved in GST theft. On Thursday, the GST Enforcement Wing conducted raids at three iron and steel production units in Raipur. The targeted establishments were Shyam Steel Industries, Ishwar Ispat, and Ishwar TMT, where the State GST Enforcement Wing carried out search operations. The preliminary investigation revealed that these three iron and steel manufacturers had committed GST theft amounting to ₹6.75 crore.

The enforcement team further conducted inspections at factories in the Urla Silatra area. The initial findings indicated that these companies had engaged in GST evasion by purchasing raw scrap and producing iron from it. The authorities promptly deposited ₹4.75 crore in GST that was due from these entities during the on-site inspection.

It is noteworthy that the GST Enforcement Wing in Chhattisgarh has been particularly active in combating GST theft. The department has been closely monitoring cases of GST evasion involving scrap for an extended period. Advanced IT tools and technologies have been employed to track and investigate such fraudulent activities. Additionally, information obtained through e-way bill inspections and data collected from field operations are being used to initiate actions against GST offenders.

This recent crackdown on iron and steel manufacturers reflects the government’s commitment to curbing GST theft and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. The possibility of further actions and increased penalties is anticipated as the investigation progresses. The stringent measures taken by the GST Enforcement Wing underscore the government’s resolve to maintain the integrity of the GST system and deter potential offenders.

In conclusion, the GST department, led by Minister OP Choudhary, is actively pursuing cases of GST theft, with recent raids on iron and steel manufacturers revealing substantial evasion. The use of advanced technologies and collaboration with other enforcement agencies enhances the effectiveness of these efforts to ensure GST compliance.
