Koliyari: There was a dramatic scene that happened in Koliyari late Thursday night or early Friday night where a truck driver who was transporting illegal sand proceeded to try and ram people who were trying to block him. This ugly incident led to the emergence of top-notch efforts among the local authorities. On Friday, it is due to the complaint of the people the SDM Abhanpur, Ravi Singh, along with a team of police and the mining department, went to Lakhna village to look into the matter.
Ever since SDM Ravi Singh visited the site, he had a meeting with the leaders of the village assuring them that they shall be heard. He also warned the villagers not to become self-security instead of following the legal procedures for dealing with such issues.
After the meeting the joint team conducted a physical assessment of the areas identified to have been used for storing illegal sand in the village. After this inspection, four trucks that were seen at the sites which included Hyva vehicles, were recovered. SDM Singh goes on to clarify to the community that the mentioned vehicles had their GPS navigations off, which made things worse. A technical team has been summoned to override the GPS systems, and other options will be pursued under the Mining Act.
SDM Singh also mentioned in his statement that all places where such ill legal sand is being stored will be dealt with strictly. He told the villagers that the administration would not tolerate such vices and made the assurance that the administration would set machinery in motion to prevent a recurrence of that ugly incident. The passage of the vehicles is a landmark achievement in the fight against IU (Illicit Use) of vehicles for sand mining, especially in the area, and the authorities are not relenting in efforts to reclaim the lawlessness in the area.
