Chhattisgarh: The Raipur administration on Friday lifted the night curfew between 8 pm to 6 am. Raipur’s collector, Saurabh Kumar issued an order on Friday evening permitting all the commercial establishments in the city to operate until 10 pm. 

Prior to the withdrawal of night curfew, the administration routed to phased relaxation under which Coaching centers were permitted to operate and Cinema theatres and Public Libraries were granted permission to accommodate the general public.

Under the new guidelines, 

  • All amusement parks, swimming pools, Cinema Theatres, Jungle Safari, tourist spots like Telibandha talab, Budha talab can operate until 8:00pm.
  • Restaurants can function until 10 pm. For dine-in facilities’ the administration has permitted only 50 percent seating capacity.
  • Number of Attendants at weddings has been raised from 10people to 50people.
  • Funeral Prayers can be attended by 20 people against the 10 permitted earlier.
  •  The administration mandated passengers arriving or departing from the state to present a negative RT-PCR conducted 96 hours ago or a vaccination certificate. 
  • Passengers at border check posts, railway stations, and airports will be screened for the virus.
  • Further, the collector announced legal actions against those defying travel protocols. Emphasis has been laid on the tracing individuals who have had direct contact with COVID positive patients. 

Earlier in April, the state government ordered night curfew in 16 districts including Raipur. As the virus continued to gain ground, curfew was enforced between 8 pm to 6 am.

 However, citing the declining COVID curve of the district, the collector nullified the night curfew and permitted all commercial establishments to operate while ensuring all the COVID protocols are being followed.
