Raipur: On Tuesday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has once again taken strong action against the Naxal network and arrested four Maoist aides. All the accused, Anil Kumar Netam, Jaysingh Hidko and Raghuveer were actively assisting the CPI (Maoist) Kuyemari Area Committee for a long time.

Investigations say these people provided logistical and material support to Maoist cadres, who received food, shelter, explosives, and detonators. Besides, they had also arranged accommodation and supplies for Naxal rebels in Mujalgondi village of Kanker district, where they were to venture a strike on a police team.

Further investigation shows CPI (Maoist) members DVC Sonu and DVC Prasad were directly involved in orchestrating the attack and in the course of planning a meeting to appeal for an election boycott in the region. Nevertheless, security forces had succeeded in arresting both armed cadres before they could implement their plans to stage a major attack.

The local police handed the case of Ghurka in February last year to the NIA, which has since conducted a detailed investigation. The agency has already filed a charge sheet of two accused in August 2024 and is expanding its probe.

These latest arrests, besides, have strengthened the NIA’s clampdown on Naxal networks, to dismantle their supply chains and operational structures. The agency will continue to streamline the sulphur in the Maoist activities and national security. It is another big stride in the Indian fight against Naxal insurgency.
