BASTAR: Three machines engaged in road construction work in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district were torched, police said on Sunday. The incident took place between Kamteda and Gattakal villages under Partapur police station limits about 200 kilometers from the capital city.
As per the investigation, woman naxals were involved in the arson said Additional SP Pakhanjore Dhirendra Patel. Sources said that the construction work was going on under PM Gram Sadak Yojna.
Workers who were deployed on the spot stated that a group of Naxal women clad in uniform stormed the construction site and threatened them to stop the work and also seized their mobile phones and set ablaze two earth movers and a mixture machine.
The police immediately rushed to the spot on receiving information and launched a search operation to trace the culprits, the SP said.
This is not the first time Naxals have tried to disrupt road construction work in CGs Bastar Division. Repeated attacks on laborers and security personnel, abduction of construction contractors, and damaging vehicle and roads has become a regular practice now.
