RAJNANDGAON: Two security personnel died in a firing initiated by Naxals on early morning in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district on Monday.
The incident took place between 7 am and 8 am under Bortalav police station limits in the district adjoining Maharashtra, when the two policemen were going on a motorcycle, Rajnandgaon Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena said addressing the media.
The deceased identified as district force head constable Rajesh Singh Rajput and Chhattisgarh Armed Force constable Anil Kuma were going towards the Maharashtra border from Bortalav police camp when they were attacked.
As per inputs, one died on the spot while the other policeman succumbed to the bullet injuries while on the way to the hospital. It is also learnt that the group of Naxals also set ablaze their motorbikes before escaping from the spot, located 180 km from the state capital Raipur.
A probe is launched into the attack said SP adding that thr bodies would be handed over to the families following the post mortem.
