Dantewada: Maoists allegedly killed Sarpanch of Hiroli Gram Panchayat Joga Kunjam, accused of being a police informer in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district. officials said. The incident took place in the Madai Mela, a fair being held on the occasion of Holi from 22nd March to 24th March. The fair was held 9kms away from the Kirandul police station area, Dantewada district.

As per the information given in by eyewitnesses, the Naxals disguised as locals took Joga into the forest, stabbed him and abandoned him in the forests. Maoist of the Gangalur Area Committee of Naxalites are reported to be involved in the incident. Reportedly a bonfire was lit by the ultras, confessing their attack on the Sarpanch. A handwritten note was also recovered from the spot, in which the Gangalur Area Committee of Naxalites has claimed responsibility for the murder and accused the victim of being a police informer.
