Bijapur: Naxals allegedly killed a civilian suspecting him of being a police informer in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, on Wednesday, police officials said.

The incident took place in Tadmer Village, where Ghanshyam Mandvi had gone to attend a wedding. Ghanshyam, husband of the sarpanch of Aadavali village according to official documentation, is a registered member of Congress.

The attack was reported to the police officials by the locals who attended the wedding. Nearly half a dozen Naxalites disguised as locals were spotted in the wedding sources claimed. Acting swiftly on the information, Jawans were immediately deployed in the area. The matter is being probed by the Kutru police station said SDOP Abhinav Upadhyay.

The recent civilian attack held by Naxalites was in November 2021, where the Maoists killed one on the verdict by the public court in Koylibeda area of Kanker.  Recently in January, they killed three cadres in the Bijapur district suspecting them to be police informers. A Jan Adalat was held where Kamlu Punem, Bhongi Poyam and Kotrapal were sentenced to death.
