Narayanpur: The Naxals insurgents confronting security forces in the Chhattisgarh region have been coming to close combative confrontations. But the Naxals, feeling the heat due to the positive countermeasures that security forces are showing, are unleashing the tactics of cowards. Without any hesitation, they struck the police camp of Irakbhatti in the Abhujmad area by targeting it with the constant firing of RPG rockets. The incident has been uploaded on social media platforms in the shape of a video clip, wherein the RPG rockets are being launched towards the soldiers who, in order to avoid the blast, manage to jump aside.
The soldiers defended themselves by exchanging fire and resisting the attackers’ advances. The incident took place in the geographical area that falls under the operational domain of the Kohakameta police station. However, the fact about the video remains that it has been going viral and circulating nowadays, but the video has not been confirmed as original.
The increased violence in encounters between security forces and Naxals only brings to the fore the continuing problem of Left Wing Extremism in the area. From the arguments presented here, it is apparent that initiatives taken by the security personnel have adversely affected the Naxals’ capabilities and strategies, forcing them to use extreme measures to regain the upper hand.
The action taken by the Naxals to ensure they attacked the camp of the police is seen as a willingness to challenge the establishment and negate the authority of the law enforcement agencies in the region. In targeting security installation, they seek to terrify the public and destabilize the region.
It is painful to realize that incidents depicting the fight against Naxalism are still unfolding to bring peace and order in areas affected by such menace.
