Bastar: Naxalites blew up a Bolero car by blasting an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) between Dantewada-Narayanpur in Chhattisgarh on Thursday morning. Naxalites blasted the car by pressing the command IED remote.
Sources reveal that some people from Narayanpur were coming to Dantewada in a Bolero. As soon as the car reached the Ghotia road in Malewahi area, the Naxalites blasted it as they had planted the IED well before.
Malewahi Police Station area comes under Narayanpur district. However due to its close proximity, the responsibility for further investigating the case has been handed over to Dantewada Police. On receiving the information, the security forces including Dantewada Superintendent of Police Dr. Abhishek Pallav reached the spot. The soldiers are searching the spot to investigate the accident.
“The vehicle, a Bolero, came under the impact of the IED blast, causing injuries to all 12 occupants, including a woman,” said Abhishek Pallav.
Sources reveal that the IED had been planted to target a police vehicle, however, the civilian vehicle came under the attack. One of the twelve travelling died, and 12 suffered severe injuries. Among the injured, 10 people were residents of Rajnandgaon. While 6 injured were discharged after first aid, rest were carried in ambulances to the hospital in Geedam, Dantewada.
