Jagdalpur: The Special Operation Group (SOG) of Odisha killed 3 Naxalites in a fierce encounter between the police and Naxalites at the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border today morning. Among the killed Naxalites, there were two women and one man. SOG recovered all three bodies. However, their identities are yet to be ascertained.
In this encounter, a jawan was shot and has been sent to Vishakhapatnam with the help of a helicopter for treatment. While the force is still present at the scene of the incident, the force also recovered one INSAS and one SLR rifle from the spot.
Sources reveal that the Malkangiri Police of Odisha had received information that a large number of Naxalites were present in the Tulsi hill area. On the basis of this information, the forces were dispatched to the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border. On Tuesday morning, the force entered the Tulsi Hill area from all sides. When the Naxalites realized that the soldiers are coming, the Naxalites opened the fire. In retaliation, the force killed the Naxalites with the help of a backup party that also reached the spot.
Presently, the encounter is over, but the search is going on at the spot. Further information shall be available once the jawans return back.
