Khairagarh: Police in Khairagarh district achieved a major success in their anti-Naxal operation today. A Naxalite couple, carrying a reward of 20 lakh rupees, surrendered before the Superintendent of Police, surrendering their weapons. Inspired by the Chhattisgarh government’s Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy-2025 and the ongoing development work in the area, they decided to rejoin society and start a new life.

Those who surrendered include Dhanush alias Munna (25), a hardcore Naxalite carrying a bounty of 1.4 million rupees, and his wife, Roni alias Tule (25), a female Naxalite carrying a bounty of 6 lakh rupees. Both were cadres of the Maoist organization’s Maad Division and MMC Zone, and had long been active in the Tanda-Malajkhand area. The couple was involved in numerous Naxalite incidents and organizational activities.

Ronnie has worked as a party member with Ramder, the MMC zone in charge, and a CC member. Dhanush, who has specialized knowledge of computers and Hindi-English typing, handled technical and typing-related tasks for the organization. Both were involved in Naxalite activities in the border areas of Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh.

In fact, improvements in roads, electricity, water, and network facilities in the area, along with the expansion of government schemes, have created a positive environment. This is what led the couple to surrender. Both Naxalites have expressed their desire to renounce violence and live respectable lives. Their surrender is considered an important step towards establishing peace in the region and ending Naxalite activities.
