Chhattisgarh: A day after five Naxals were gunned down in an encounter in Sukma district, another operation against the Maoists was launched on Wednesday evening.
The operation took place in the forest at the junctions of Sukma, Dantewada and Bastar districts. Informing about the operation, SUndarRaj, Bastar IP said, “ this evening a fresh exchange of fire broke out between a patrolling team of Dantewada DRG and Maoists in the area.” It was later confirmed by sources that a Naxal holding a bounty of Rs 5 lakh was also brought down in the cross-firing. Identified as Madkam Muiya, he was a member of the area committee.
Further, it is reported that DRG Jawans successfully demolished the Naxalite camps in the forests of Karigundam and Matemarka under the Chintagufa Police station area of the district. Initiating a search of the camp, three loaded guns, two pieces of pitu and one IED weighing around 3kgs was recovered.
Acting on specific input about the presence of top Divisional Commit Members of CPI (Maoist) along with 40 cadres in the forest on the tri-junction of three districts, security forces from three areas had launched the operation there on Monday night. The Greyhounds Jawans in coalition with DRG and CRPF forces from Bijapur brought down one female Naxal who reportedly held a reward of Rs 5 lakh.
