Bijapur: In Chhattisgarh, the spate of Naxal violence remains unabated, with a recent incident in the Bijapur district underscoring the continuing threat. Once again, Naxals have perpetrated a cowardly act, launching a brutal attack with lethal weapons that resulted in the tragic death of an innocent youth. The incident unfolded in the Gangaloor police station area.
According to available information, on Sunday night, assailants belonging to the Naxal group targeted 19-year-old Rishu Punem, a resident of Pusnar village. Employing formidable weapons, the Naxals assaulted him, leading to his untimely demise. The lifeless body of the victim was discovered on Pusnar Road. Upon discovering the incident, the family members promptly reported it to the Gangaloor police station. Subsequently, the police took possession of the body and initiated the necessary procedures for post-mortem examination.
It’s worth noting that this tragic incident follows the recent clashes between the police and Maoists on January 12, where Toya Potam, a Jan Militia Commander of the Gangaloor Area Committee, lost his life. In the aftermath of the clash, heightened tensions and Naxal unrest in the region have been evident. Amid this, Naxals have resorted to an alarming escalation by targeting innocent civilians.
The situation is closely monitored, and the Gangaloor police station is actively investigating the incident. Authorities are committed to addressing the complex security challenges posed by Naxal activities, and the recent spate of violence underscores the ongoing need for robust measures to ensure the safety and security of civilians in affected regions. The tragic loss of yet another innocent life highlights the urgency of efforts to curb Naxal activities and establish stability in the affected areas of Chhattisgarh.
