Bijapur: Lady who went in looking for her husband in the Abhujmad forest returned safely, Kutru police said. Pawar broke into tears seeing his wife and daughter, they added. According to the police, the Sonali Pawar wife of abducted engineer Ashok Pawar released an emotional message for the Naxals after which she embarked on the lookout in the dense forest along with her two and half-year-old daughter, a day after the Naxals abducted the duo.

Unaware of the fact that the Maoist released her husband on Tuesday evening, Sonali kept wandering in the forest leaving her elder daughter behind. Engineer Ashok Pawar and his assistant Yadav were released by the Naxals on Tuesday evening and were lodged in the Kutru Police station until the former’s wife arrived. Sonali, in touch with the local journalists, was finally informed that her husband had returned safely.

The local journalist who interacted with Ashok and Pawar said they weren’t tortured much by the Naxals and were handed over Rs 2,000 each to return home safely. Assistant Yadav seems to be a little traumatized and needs help, she added. It is learnt the Naxals issued a warning to the owner of the private construction company building a bridge on the Indravati river near Bedre-Nugur Village in Bijapur where they were kidnapped.
