Raipur: CM Bhupesh Baghel alleges the centre is trying to disrobe the Grand old Indian National Congress by roping in its leaders in connection to the money laundering in the National Herald newspaper. Condemning the raid at the National Herald office, CM Baghel called it ” vendetta politics” and said that the action was part of the continued attack on the country’s ages-old party.
According to media reports, ED on Tuesday morning raided 10 locations speculating connection with the National Herald case the Gandhi family are being summoned for. National Herald offices in Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai were raided under the criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to “gather additional evidence with regard to the trail of funds”, the agency sources said.
Officers of the probe agency are said to have also searched the National Herald office located on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in central Delhi. The ‘Herald House’ located at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, ITO in central Delhi was also searched. The property is registered in the name of Associated Journals Ltd, which publishes the newspaper.
