Raipur: MP Brijmohan Agarwal has written a letter to Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu demanding international status for Raipur Airport. He has appealed to take necessary action to connect Raipur with countries like United Arab Emirates (UAE), Thailand and Vietnam.
MP Brijmohan Agrawal wrote in the letter that after the meeting of the Airport Advisory Committee held on December 26, we have contacted various international airlines to connect Raipur Airport with countries like United Arab Emirates (UAE), Thailand and Vietnam. During this, it came to light that according to the bilateral agreement between India and UAE in 2014, currently only 15 Indian cities are allowed to have direct flights to UAE, in which 66,000 seats are being exchanged.
He said that in the discussion with the UAE ambassador, it has been suggested that by reviewing this agreement, a provision should be made to connect 30 Indian airports with UAE instead of 15. This issue has been raised by many MPs in the past as well, but no concrete decision has been taken so far.
Brijmohan Agrawal requested the Union Minister to review the bilateral agreement between India and UAE so that Raipur airport can be given international status. This step will prove helpful in the economic and social development of not only Raipur but the entire region.
