New Delhi: There seems no respite in rains for Madhya Pradesh and CG. States in the central region have been issued fresh alerts by the IMD that predict extremely heavy rainfall.

As per the IMD forecast, the central regions of India are expected to witness heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning in isolated regions for the next 24-48 hours precisely until Monday. A red alert has been issued in CGs Bilaspur. For the coming 48 hours, all train services have been paused and residents in low-lying areas have been asked to stay alert.

In East Madhya Pradesh, rains are expected to last until Tuesday while West MP and Vidarbha would witness rainfall from Sunday to Tuesday.

On Sunday isolated very heavy showers of 115.5mm to 204mm are expected in East MP and Chhattisgarh, and West MP on Monday and Tuesday. The Independence day celebration in East MP is likely to go damp as per the forecast by the weather agency. The forecast has raised an orange alert in the above regions. The Western MP region as per the advisory is issued an orange alert for Tuesday.

Rains in the previous days have wreaked havoc in CG and MP. Several low-lying areas have been submerged and water logging has been reported.
