Raipur: The monsoon session of the Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha commenced today on July 26. A notification issued by the Vidhan Sabha secretariat confirmed that the session will have five sittings and shall conclude by July 30.
The House began by paying homage to the seven former legislators, former members of Parliaments (MPs), and other leaders who passed during the inter-session period.
Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members raised the issue of attack on ruling Congress tribal legislator, Brihaspati Singh. BJP demanded a probe by the assembly panel into the allegations.
The legislators will discuss issues related to COVID-19 vaccination, liquor prohibition, alleged deteriorating law and order situation, issues of tribals in Bastar, loss of paddy during rains owing to lack of proper storage, elephant menace among others in the upcoming session. The government shall also present the budget.
All the specified COVID-19 protocols are strictly adhered during the session. Public will not be allowed to watch the proceedings from the visitor’s gallery. Further, glass panels have been installed to ensure the separate seating spaces for legislators.
