Raipur: After several re-iteration, a meeting was held at Raipur Police Control room on Monday, officials said. The meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain was also attended by Raipur collector Saurabh Kumar and SSP Prashant Agarwal while leaders like Kamta Prasad, Girdhar Patel, Rupan Chandrakar spoke on behalf of the agitating farmers.
It is learnt that the meeting saw a detailed discussion. Interacting with the media, farmer leaders appreciated the efforts put forth by the administration and hoped for a verdict in their favour.
Earlier on Sunday, a magisterial inquiry was ordered into the circumstances leading to the death of a farmer during the ongoing agitation by the farmers at Naya Raipur. The ordeal came by collector Saurabh Kumar stating that the ADM NR Sahu would conduct the magisterial inquiry. The ADM is instructed to submit a report for the administration to proceed with the probe.
Farmers from 27 villages, which fall in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar in Raipur district, have been agitating under the banner of Nayi Rajdhani Pariyojna Prabhavit Kisan Kalyan Samiti, a farmers’ org, since January to press for their various demands, including better rehabilitation and compensation for the land acquired by the Naya Raipur Authorities for their new project.
