Bilaspur: Social activist and Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) leader Medha Patkar joined supporters in Bilaspur protesting against the Hasdeo Mining Project.

While addressing the gathering, she slammed the centre claiming they were spreading confusion amongst people. She asserted that there is no shortage of coal in Rajasthan. She pressed that the agitations would continue until the administration revoked their decision. Medha Patkar will go to Hasdeo Arand from Bilaspur along with the supporters.

A sit-in protest has been going on in Konher Garden of Bilaspur for the last several days against the permission for coal mining in Hasdeo Aranya.

Earlier this month, the CG Govt put the three mining projects in the Hasdeo Aranya forest on hold indefinitely, as a state minister was against the project

The official process for the Parsa East Kete Basen (PEKB), second phase of Parsa and Kete extension has been put on hold. The projects faced sharp criticism from activists and had elicited a wave of protests from residents of the state’s Surguja and Surajpur districts.

Activists claimed more than 200,000 trees spread across 841 hectares of forest will have to be chopped down for the Parsa Mining Project. Protests against the three mining projecta have been running since March 2.
