Durg: Tuesday morning started under the sign of the massive fire, which occurred early morning on Road 16 in sector 2, Bhilai.
The massive fire, which began around 4:00 am and 5:00 am, burnt five vehicles and a bicycle that were parked under the building. When a resident of the neighbourhood that has the BSP (Bhilai Steel Plant) was on his way to work, he saw fire fumes rising and gradually advancing towards other vehicles that were parked. He quickly alerted the residents to evacuate.
After hearing the fire alarms, people immediately left their houses, tried to put out the fire themselves, and immediately called the fire department. The fire brigadiers of the BSP came on the scene and acted appropriately to put off the fire.
However, it was completely burnt when the firefighters came to the scene to completely put out the fire; vehicles and a bicycle were also burnt to the cinder. The flames grew severe enough to spread onto four other quarters, and the section where the electric meters and connections were located was heavily burnt. He added that the fire led to a short circuit that, in the long run, destroyed cables in that part.
People think that it could be due to mischief-makers, though the cause of the fire is still unknown. Police officials at the Bhatti police station are currently trying to find out whether the cause of the fire was due to a short circuit as is being claimed or whether somebody set off a circuit to create mayhem.
This occurrence has provoked some relevant concerns among the residents concerning security measures, especially in places where automobiles and other useful facilities are found. Better fire prevention systems are being demanded to be installed, and safety checks must be conducted before something like this occurs again. Instead, the investigation should provide a possible explanation of what really happened, or at least, in the case of cheating, necessary consequences for those guilty.
