Influenced by the Lon Varratu (Come back home) campaign in the district, four Maoists carrying a bounty of 20 lakhs along with a couple surrendered. The Chhattisgarh government has announced a reward of Rs 8 lakh each on the surrendered Maoist couple, Rs 3 lakh on a member of the political team active in the North Sub Zonal Bureau and Rs 1 lakh on the former RPC KAMS (Revolutionary Adivasi Mahila Sangathan) president active in the Jagargunda Area Committee.
In this episode, Hunga Tamo alias Tamo Surya, father late Joga Tamo (37 years), resident of Sukma district, member of Regional Company No. 02 with a reward of Rs. 8 lakhs, Aayite Tati, wife of Hunga Tamo alias Tamo Surya (father Aytu Tati), member of Regional Company No. 02 with a reward of Rs. 8 lakhs, Deve alias Vijje Vanjam, father late Deva Vanjam, age (25 years), member of North Sub Zonal Bureau-Political Team with a reward of Rs. 3 lakhs and former RPC KAMS (Revolutionary Adivasi Mahila Sangthan) President Madvi Aayate, wife of Nuppo Bhima (38 years), with a reward of Rs. 1 lakhs, have expressed their desire to surrender.
After this, under the Lon Varratu (Come back home) campaign, on September 22, they surrendered in front of Deputy Inspector General of Police Dantewada Range Kamlochan Kashyap (IPS), Superintendent of Police Dantewada Gaurav Rai (IPS), ASP Smritik Rajanala (IPS) and ASP Dantewada Ramkumar Barman (RPSC) at the Superintendent of Police office in Dantewada. DRG and Bastar Fighters Dantewada played a special role in making the Maoists surrender.
Under the rehabilitation policy, the surrendered Maoists will be provided with an assistance amount of Rs. 25,000 each along with other facilities provided by the Chhattisgarh government. Adopting an incentive-based approach for rehabilitation in the society, vocational training and housing facilities will also be provided.
