Jashpur: In the Pathalgaon area of the Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh, there seems to have been a tragedy in which three women are said to have died due to lighting while six others are said to have been injured. The women in the field carrying out the transplanting of paddy crops were struck by lightning in Bhaisamuda village on Friday. This particular event has created a lot of alarm and emotion within society.
The sources say the incident happened when nine women were trapped in the field by lightning. While three of them died from the complications of their injuries, the remaining six were taken to the hospital, where they were admitted. This unfortunate occurrence has brought sorrow to the region. Many have condemned the incident and have shown deep sorrow for the lost lives and injuries that the victims have developed.
Pathalgaon Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Akanksha Tripathi said the incident was true, and the administration had reports that several people were hit by lightning in the Chandagadh village part. She responded that work is ongoing to come up with compensation for the victims’ families. According to government policies regarding natural calamities, the complainant families shall be compensated with four lakh rupees each.
This dreadful incident shows the other side that most farm workers go through with so much frequency as they operate amid the regional weather conditions. This has led to the reemergence of discussions as to the commendable nature of such natural calamities and sensitization on improving the safety of the vulnerable in such disasters.
The local administration is very attentive to all the events surrounding this catastrophe, and the injured are provided with necessary medical help.
