Kanker: There is a constant rise in the terror of wild animals in the Kanker district, especially leopards and bears, who are invading residential houses. These animals, especially Leopards, are turning man-eaters more and more, causing too much of a problem to the forest department. The problem has emerged to the level where a leopard became a menace to man, killing people in the area. There are some reports from recent days that a leopard targeted local people, including children, which resulted in numerous serious injuries.
Five leopard sightings were reported in Dumali, a village close to the district headquarters. The five leopards were sighted in the Dumali village. This has put the forest department on the alert. During the night, other careless people from the city go to the villages hoping to see the leopards, and in doing so, they put their own lives at risk. The authorities are also anxious that such reckless action might lead to a disaster.
Forest Department Alerted on Leopard Attacks
To avoid anything bad, the forest department has upped on patrol during the night on the hills and nearby villages. They also use safety words on anyone they come across, whether a resident, a traveller, or a pedestrian, among others, to exercise a lot of caution. Aside from the round, the forest department has installed boards along read lines and other areas within the proximity that inform people to be careful whenever they are approaching these areas, mostly at night.
At a later date, even though District Forest Officer (DFO) Alok Bajpai has personally accompanied his team on the patrols and asked the public to be vigilant, too. He has been encouraging people to observe measures and adhere to the measures issued by the department to avoid any adverse occurrence. The forest department is still alert and tries in every possible way to save the lives of the villagers as well as counter the increasing phenomenon of wild animal menace.
