Raipur: The 800-meter long flyover under construction at Kumhari in Durg will be opened for two-wheelers from October 31st. NHAI has taken this decision in view of the jam. With the opening of the flyover, the traffic pressure of more than 30,000 two-wheelers from the service road will be reduced. With this, 4 wheelers and heavy vehicles will be able to move easily from the service road. 4 flyovers are being built on the National Highway between Durg and Raipur.
Due to the narrow service road and the high pressure of vehicles, the problem of accidents and jams has increased here. In view of this, PWD secretary Siddharth Komal Pardeshi had earlier visited here on September 23rd. During this, he had reprimanded the officials of NHAI and the engineers of the agency who were building the flyover. After the reprimand of the collector, the contracting company has made the Kumhari flyover fit for 2 wheelers and it will probably be opened from October 31st.
An employee at Kumhari Toll Plaza said that 30-35,000 2 wheelers pass daily between Bhilai and Raipur. The maximum number is between 9-11 AM and 5-7 PM. This is because most of the people work in Raipur and travel to and from Bhilai. In such a situation, the bike driver used to take one to one and a half hours to reach. Bypassing all the two-wheelers through the flyover, the journey will be 40 minutes and there will be no jam.
